Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Service and Repair

Replacing Temperature Sensor For Intake Air (M60, M62)

Switch off ignition.







Version 1:
(acoustic cover screwed down)
Remove seal caps (1) and unfasten nuts (2).
Remove acoustic cover.







Version 2:
(acoustic cover with press-stud fastener)
Open press-studs (1... 4) one at a time, at the same time lifting the acoustic cover slightly.
Once all four press-studs have been opened, remove the acoustic cover.

Installation:
Position acoustic cover and press downwards until press-studs (1... 4) click into place.







M60 and E31M62:
Temperature sensor is fitted in intake manifold:
Press down retaining spring.
Disconnect connector.
Unfasten temperature sensor.
Tightening torque,

Senders For Control Unit:

Installation:
Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit, check faults in memory then cancel fault memory.







M62:
The temperature sensor is clipped into the upper section of intake filter housing.
Disconnect connector. Press locking unit (1) and remove temperature sensor (2).

Installation:
Interrogate fault memory of DME control unit, check faults in memory then cancel fault memory.
