Increase Idle Speed by Reprogramming ECM/DME (M5.2)
MODEL:
E38 - 740i/iLA with M62 engine prod. 12/95 - 4/97
E39 - 540i/iA with M62 engine prod. 3/96 - 4/97
Situation:
Customer complains that the engine seems to stumble and the engine idle speed appears to be too low especially with the NC off and when:
- Steering wheel is turned fully to the right or left
- Reverse gear is selected with automatic transmission
Cause:
Increased load requirement from steering/transmission
Correction:
In case of a customer complaint, increase the engine idling speed by reprogramming the DME control module using CD P15.0 or higher. The revised program will increase the engine speed at idle by approximately 100 RPM.
Procedure:
In order to reprogram the Engine Control Module a manual determination must be performed and the following part numbers must be entered.
