SUBJECT:
ASC Lamp On, No Fault Codes

MODEL:
E38 (7 Series), E39 (5 Series) with M62, or M73 engine

Situation:
The ASC lamp is on and no fault codes are stored. The ASC lamp goes off if the underhood diagnostic connector cap is removed.

Cause:
Incorrect underhood OBD cap fitted.





Note that the part number is molded into the OBD cap molding.

Correction:
Install correct OBD connector cap
