Right Cylinder Head



Remove upper section of timing case, refer to Timing Components.
Remove splash guard.
Remove left and right heat baffle plates on front axle support.
Unfasten drain plug for coolant on right engine block. Drain and dispose of coolant.

Installation:
Replace sealing ring.
Tightening torque, refer to Engine, Specifications.
Bleed cooling system and check for water leaks, refer to Cooling System
Remove spark plugs, refer to Powertrain Management
Remove coolant manifold, refer to Cooling System
Remove guide tube for dipstick refer to Engine Lubrication
Remove exhaust pipes from right cylinder bank 1 to 6, refer to Exhaust System
Remove exhaust pipes from left cylinder bank 7 to 12, refer to Exhaust System





Unfasten cylinder head screws from outside to inside in sequence 14 to 1.
Remove cylinder head. Remove cylinder head gasket.

Installation:
Clean sealing faces of cylinder head and engine block, if necessary using wooden scraper to remove gasket debris. Ensure that no gasket debris drops into the oil and coolant ducts.
Threaded bores in engine block must be free of dirt and oil (risk of cracking).






Installation:
Replace cylinder head gasket.
Fit new cylinder head screws.
Tightening torque, refer to Engine, Specifications.
Tighten cylinder head screws working outwards from inside edge in sequence 1 to 14.
