DISA Flap Control

DISA Changeover Flap Operating Parameters:

The control of the DISA solenoid is added to the M5.2 control system for the M44 engine. The control parameters for DISA operation are changed from the M42 M1.7 system.

The engine speed at which the DISA changeover flap is opened has changed. The M5.2 control module opens the flap to provide the "short pipe" intake manifold characteristics within a range of 3300 to 4520 RPM. The range is varied depending on engine load.

These new parameters provide a greater utilization of the intake manifold's cylinder filling characteristics to further enhance the torque curve of the M44 engine.
