SUBJECT:
Incorrect Fuel Gauge Reading

MODEL:
E36 (3 Series), including 318ti (Vehicles produced from 1/95)

SITUATION
Fuel gauge does not read full after refueling, or fuel gauge erratic.

CAUSE
The formation of a non-conducting deposit on the conductor surface of the fuel level sensor

CORRECTION
On customer complaint basis only, remove and replace both fuel level sensors with "Cold system" sensors (refer to repair instructions 16 12 000 and 16 12 001).
