ABS/ASC+T/DSC Control Module From 09/98
Note: Before removing the ABS/ASC+T/DSC control module, read out the fault memory and if necessary print out the fault code.
After the control module has been installed, new control units must be coded. On cars equipped with DSC, it is also necessary to carry out an adjustment of the steering angle sensor with DIS (Diagnosis and Information System) under the menu item Service functions.
Carry out end-of-belt test with DIS (Diagnosis and Information System).
Release lock on plug connection (1) in direction (2). Detach plug connection (1) in direction (3) vertically toward top.
Installation:
Position plug connection (1) vertically on control module in order to avoid damaging pins.
Release screws (1) and detach control module (2) from hydraulic unit.
Installation:
Replace screws (1).
Check sealing face (1) for damage (visual inspection).
Clean sealing face (1); do not use any sharp-edged tools or aggressive cleaning agents here.
Check contact lugs (2) for corrosion or damage.
Installation:
Replace hydraulic unit if sealing surface (1) or contact lugs (2) is/are damaged.
Carefully push control module (1) onto hydraulic unit (2).
Make sure that solenoid coils do not tilt.
Housing edge of control module (1) must slide over extension on hydraulic unit (2).
Press control module onto hydraulic unit and screw in screws (1 + 2) evenly (do not tighten down) until control module is resting evenly on hydraulic unit.
Insert screws (1-6), do not tighten down yet.
Tighten down screws (1-6) in specified sequence with torque wrench.
Installation:
Use only new screws, observe tightening torque, refer to Brakes, Specifications.
