Control Arm Bushing Bracket


Replacing bracket for control arm





If necessary, remove heat baffle plate and reinforcement cross from front axle carrier.
Punch-mark centre of control arm.





Unfasten screws.

Installation:
Use washers.
Tightening torque, refer to Specifications.





Determine dimension (A) and note or mark the position of the rubber mount on the transverse link.
The rubber mount must be pressed onto the traverse link up to this dimension or this marking.





Composite parts of special tool 00 7 500.





Pull bracket off control arm using special tools 31 2 15 and 00 7 500.

Caution:
Never re-use a rubber mount pulled off control arm. Rubber-coated inner sleeve is destroyed if pulled off dry.

Replacing rubber mount, refer to Control Arm Bushing.
Always replace left and right rubber mounts and use rubber mounts of same make (seen on mount).





Coat control arm pin with an approved lubricant.
Attach special tool 31 2 153 in control arm bore.
Pull bracket/mount onto the traverse link up to the marking with special tool 31 2 152/154 and 00 7 501.





Note: Centering bores (larger diameter) of bracket point to engine carrier.





Caution:
Immediately tighten down bracket to body
- Tightening torque, refer to Specifications.
- and move vehicle into normal position straightaway. Refer to "Normal Position" at Alignment. Service and Repair

Leave vehicle in normal position for at least 30 minutes and avoid greater bottoming of suspension.
Lubricant will be evaporated after about 30 minutes an control arm will fit tightly and be correctly positioned in rubber mount.
Non-conformance with these procedures could lead to serious impairment of handling!
