Remove left or right control arm

Removing front wheel, refer to Wheel.





Stabilizer connection on control arm:
Unscrew nut (1).

Installation:
Replace self-locking nut (1).
Fit shim (2).
Tightening Torque, refer to Specifications.





Screw in wheel bolt and suspend bearing unit from spring strut with a piece of wire - this prevents damaging brake hose.





Loosen nut until it contacts spring strut.

Installation:
Tightening Torque, refer to Specifications.





Unfasten screws.

Installation:
Clean tapped bores in steering knuckle. Always replace micro-encapsulated bolts.
Tightening Torque, refer to Specifications.





Unscrew bolt.

Installation:
Use washers on both sides.
Replace self-locking nut.
Tightening Torque, refer to Specifications.





Unscrew nut and pull off ball joint with special tool 31 2 160.

Installation:
Remove grease from bore and pin.
Replace self-locking nut.





Unfasten screws.

Installation:
Use washers.
Tightening Torque, refer to Specifications.





Unscrew nut and knock ball joint loose with a plastic hammer.
Take off control arm.

Installation:
Remove grease from bore and pin. Replace self-locking nut.
Pressing up ball joint with a transmission lifter simplified tightening of nuts.
On vehicle with S52 engine, remove shield plates between manifold and wheel housing if necessary.
Tightening Torque, refer to Specifications.
