Replacing Rollover Protection Bar

REPLACING LEFT OR RIGHT ROLLOVER PROTECTION BAR (CONVERTIBLE):

Caution! Turn ignition lock to the "0" position for at least 1 minute before starting work on the rollover bar system (risk of injury).

- Convertible top open and hardtop not fitted.
- Remove headrests.
- Remove rear seat and backrest.
- If applicable, remove radio amplifier.




Caution! The rollover bars must be triggered before disassembly (danger of injury).

- If applicable, remove rollover sensor.

Note: If the rollover bar fails to extend, it can be triggered mechanically.

Trigger rollover bar mechanically:

- Trigger the rollover bar by inserting a punch of 4 mm diameter through the bore.




Only replace:

Hard caps:
- Lift out upwards.

Soft caps:
- Detach burr fastener at bottom and lift out of top.

NOTE: Soft caps can only be disassembled with the rollover bar extended.




- Open convertible top compartment cover.
- Partially remove edge protection.
- Lift out expanding rivet and lift insert out from top (cover removed).
- Fold insulating mat aside.




- Unfasten screws and remove drawer from front.




- Remove connector (1).
- Unfasten screws and remove rollover bar from top.
Installation:
- Tightening torque = 22 Nm.




- Function test (trigger),
