M52 TU Engine: Overview
Overview
The following changes were made to the basic M52 engine to achieve the development goals:
- Redesigned crankcase
- Modified crankshaft
- Modified pistons
- Sintered connecting rods
- Oil pump/oil pressure regulator integrated into the oil sump deflector
- Double VANOS for the camshaft drive
- Redesigned cooling system
- Map controlled thermostat
- Quick disconnect hoses for cooling system
- Motor driven throttle valve
- Catalytic converters mounted in the exhaust manifold
