High Instrument Cluster

High Instrument Cluster

The high variant of the E39 instrument cluster corresponds to the E38 cluster. It consists of the IKE control module and the Display Unit. The IKE contains all of the processing electronics for the cluster and Board Computer functions. The Display Unit contains the gauges, drivers for the gauges and the LCD display blocks.

The high version uses both the "I" and "K" Busses and the IKE becomes the Gateway Controller for messages that pass between modules on the different busses.

The IKE is also the gateway for diagnostic messages that are sent to and from the DIS tester and all of the modules on both the "I" and "K" busses.

All gauge functions, warning lamp indicators and the matrix display are the same as in the E38.

The processing for the Service Indicator is the same as the base cluster which uses the new consumption computation for service intervals.

Redundant data storage for the total mileage and service interval indicator is stored in the LCM as on the base cluster.
