Removing And Installing/Replacing Airbag Module On Left Or Right Front Door


CAUTION!
Note safety regulations for handling airbag modules and pyrotechnical seat belt tensioners.
Incorrect handling can activate airbag and cause injury.


Remove and install front left or right door trim panel.







Unfasten plug connection for side airbag from bracket.







Open plug connection for side airbag by applying pressure to tab and unfasten connector.







Unfasten screws and remove airbag module.


CAUTION!
Always replace micro-encapsulated screws!



NOTE:
Modified airbag modules will be used.
The differences are:
Modified retaining tab
Integrated lead with airbag plug.







Previous version:
4 retaining tabs (1), without fitted lead and airbag plug, adapter lead required.







Modified version:
3retaining tabs (1), and fitted cable (2).
The adapter cable required in the previous version is now omitted because of the prefitted cable.


NOTE:
If an airbag module with 4 retaining tabs is replaced with an airbag module with 3 retaining tabs, it is necessary to observe the following:
the adapter lead is omitted (lead is firmly attached to airbag module), remove the nut retainer for the 4th retaining screw (risk of rattling noises), touch up any damage to paint, seal the opening in the sound insulation for the 4th retaining screw that is no longer required so as to prevent moisture from entering the door trim panel.
