S62B50 ENGINE

The development objectives for the M5 were to produce an engine that was capable of high torque output but also provide smooth driving characteristics for all driving situations.

The S62B50 engine features:
- Eight individual throttle valves.
- Single plenum chamber with velocity tubes.
- Dual hot film air mass meters.
- Dual VANOS intake/exhaust (100 Bar pressure system).
- Double roller timing chain.
- Three oil pumps.
- Hydraulic Valve Adjusters (HVA).
- Integrated oil/water heat exchanger.
