Electronic Throttle Actuator Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Removing And Installing/Replacing Pedal Travel Sensor (S62)

Switch off ignition.
Remove trims for instrument panel at bottom.

Installation:
Perform function check:
Connect DIS Tester.
Measure voltage (V) and percentage values (%) at PWG potentiometer with DIS Tester.
Only the higher value from the two values specified is taken into account here.
Specified values:
1. Pedal travel sensor in idle position: 0.6 to 0.85 V.
2. Pedal travel sensor in full throttle position: 110-130%.

NOTE: If the idle measurement value is outside the above-mentioned limit value, the 71 °C angle of the lever must be checked and a new lever fitted in the event of correction.

Operate accelerator pedal for full throttle position by hand to prevent a distortion of the measured values.
Readjust the full throttle stop on the accelerator pedal if the percentage values in the full throttle position do not attain the values mentioned above.

Location:

The pedal travel sensor (1) is fitted to the pedal block.

Unscrew control unit (1) from bracket.
Release screws (2) and remove bracket.

Remove retaining ring (1).
Unhook lever.

Disconnect plug connection at top on instrument panel support.
Release screws on pedal travel sensor (1) with special tool 11 4 190.
Remove pedal travel sensor (1).

NOTE: Always carry out pedal travel sensor basic adaptation when the pedal travel sensor has been disconnected.

Procedures:
Select diagnosis of DME control unit.
Subsequent procedure in accordance with DIS instructions.

Installation:
Observe installation position of pedal travel sensor (1).

Note lever positions (3) and (4).
If the pedal travel sensor or the lever (3) is replaced without preassembly of these components, you must make a template for 71 1|C so that the lever (3) can be fitted in the correct position.
Connect plug (2) at top to instrument panel support.
After installation, carry out above-mentioned function check.
