SUBJECT:
DMTL Test Plan Error
MODEL:
All with M54 / MS43
Situation:
When performing the DMTL test plan for tank leak detection, the message "LEA DETECTED" is displayed at the conclusion of the test. Although this statement displayed, the system may be functioning correctly.
Cause:
DIS/MoDic software error in CD 21.1 and CD 22.
Correction:
After performing the Diagnosis Module - Fuel Tank Leakage , one of the three following statements may appear at the conclusion of the test:
1. "Function test of fuel tank leakage diagnosis module completed successfully Leak Detected."
If this statement is displayed, check the DME for fault codes after performing the test module. If no "tank ventilation" faults are present, the DMTL test has passed, no system leakage.
2. "Function test of fuel tank leakage diagnosis module not possible: Major Leak Detected."
If this statement is displayed, check the DME for fault codes after performing the test module. If "tank ventilation" faults are present, the DMTL test has detected a large leak. Continue diagnosing the system to locate the leak.
3. "Function test of fuel tank leakage diagnosis module not possible: Minor Leak Detected"
If this statement is displayed, check the DME for fault codes after performing the test module. If "tank ventilation" faults are present, the DMTL test has detected a small leak. Continue diagnosing the system to locate the leak.
After locating and repairing the leak, perform the DMTL test. If the system has been successfully corrected, the results of the DMTL will be as describe in # 1 (above).
