Cruise Control Interface
Cruise Control Interface
The cruise control module provides the TCM a serial data input signal. When cruise control functions are activated, the TCM activates a shift program suitable for active cruise control operation preventing pendulum locking/unlocking of the torque converter and minimizes up/down shifting.
Additionally, the cruise control system can request a shift to occur. As an example; Cruise control speed is set to a specific road speed. The vehicle begins it's descent down a severe down hill grade causing the vehicle to overcome the set speed. The cruise control signals the TCM to downshift one gear. This will occur as needed to maintain the set speed as closely as possible.
