Hood
Hood
For the first time the BMW trademark kidney grilles are integrated into the hood. The hood is hinged at the rear and is sup-ported by two gas filled struts.
The hood can be raised to a maximum angle of 90° by detaching the gas filled strut springs and inserting a drift pin through aligned holes in the hinges
There is sufficient clearance between the windshield wiper arms and the hood when the arms are in the service position.
The air inlet passages for the climate control system (IHKA E38) are through the grille integrated into the hood.
Under the grille are two active carbon microfilters for IHKA air intake . Access to the filters is from under the hood by detaching the hinged covers.
The hood is opened by first pulling the release lever inside of the vehicle on the driver's side kick panel.
On the driver's side kidney grille, the safety latch release lever is accessible.
When closing the hood lightly place hood down onto the weather seals, press firmly down with two hands to latch the locks.
The air inlet grille houses three heated windshield washer fluid jet nozzles.
