Hydraulic Unit Function

HYDRAULIC UNIT FUNCTION

The four inlet and four outlet solenoids function to provide Pressure build up, Pressure hold and Pressure reduction for both ABS and Traction control activation. The inlet solenoid is powered closed and the outlet solenoid is powered open.

- Pressure build up is created with the inlet valve open and the outlet valve closed. (same as normal braking).
- Pressure hold is created with both inlet and outlet solenoid valves closed.
- Pressure drop is created with the inlet solenoid closed and the outlet solenoid open.
- Fluid is returned to the reservoir through the master cylinder.

The intake solenoid is a normally closed valve that is powered open during traction control to allow the return pump to draw brake fluid from the master cylinder during the pressure build up phase.

The switching valve is a normally open valve that is powered closed. It serves two functions:
- The switching valve blocks the line from the master cylinder to the inlet valve and allows the fluid to flow through the intake valve to the return pump.
- The switching valve incorporates a pressure limiting valve that sets the pressure to 130 Bar when the traction control is operating.
