MoDiC Operation
When the MoDiC is connected to the 20 pin diagnostic connector in the engine compartment, it receives operating power from the vehicle. The opening title "BMW MoDiC" comes up momentarily in the display.
The display automatically changes to the menu programs of the loaded software programs.
Select the required program by entering the displayed number to the left of the available functions with the keypad and press the hamburger button.
If the required program is not loaded in the MoDiC it must be loaded using the MoDiC station or the MoDiC download station of the DIS (explained later).
Once the program is selected, the next display identifies the version of the selected program (ie: Coding V13.0).
Be certain it is the latest version and is compatible with the required coding or programming procedure.
The software versions are introduced along with an IDC bulletin listing the software capabilities and compatibilities, Always reference IDC bulletins.
The next display prompts the date to be entered by using the keypad. When the last digit is entered, the display will ask for a "Y" (yes) or an "N" (no) response for the accuracy of the entered date.
This procedure is the same for all MoDiC functions up to this point. Depending on the selected function, the procedure is unique and is covered in the individual sections of this manual.
In general each program requires input instructions from the keypad and in conjunction with the loaded up-to-date software, the MoDiC automatically seeks out the control module to be encoded or programmed through the vehicle's diagnostic link.
