Starter Motor: Testing and Inspection

Checking Components of Starting Motor





- Check power input of pull-in and holding windings in solenoid switch.




- Check excitation winding, carbon-brush holder and open- coil armature winding for short circuit to earth.




- Check armature for shorted turns - use a standard test probe.
- Check that excitation winding is not necessary with permanent magnets.
