Removal and Replacement



51 11 000 Removing And Installing Complete Front Bumper (Z3 Roadster, M Roadster)

M Roadster only:
Remove and install front underbody protection (engine).







Unfasten hexagon bolts (1) and Torx screws (2) at left/right.

NOTE: Screw (2) for mounting on impact absorber is Torx T50.

Version without foglights and/or headlight cleaning system:
Pull bumper forwards to remove.







Version with foglights:
If necessary, remove left/right plug connection (1) from foglights.

Version with headlight cleaning system:
If necessary, unfasten hose clip (2) and seal hose firmly.







M Roadster only:

Installation:
Pull hose (1) off bracket (2) if necessary (because engagement of groove (3) is not possible in installed state).







M Roadster only:

Installation:
Engage hose (1) in air guide (2) if necessary.







M Roadster only:

Installation:
Push hose (1) onto bracket (2) if necessary.







Adjust bumper:
Ideal setting (dimension):
Transition (A) should be flush on left/right side.
(B) 5 mm (tolerance + 0.5/ -1 mm)
(C) Transition from below 5 mm (tolerance +1/ -0 upwards to 2.5 mm (tolerance +0.5/ -1 mm)
(D) 5 mm (tolerance + 1/ -0.5 mm)
(E) 5 mm (tolerance + 1/ -0.5 mm)







Loosen nut (1) from wheel arch and adjust bracket (2).

NOTE: Adjustment possible with bumper fitted.







Loosen left/right hexagon bolts (1).
Loosen left/right screw (2).







Height adjustment with fitted bumper:
Fit special tool 51 1 130 to standard extension (1) with reversible handle (2) and insert through bore (3) in bumper (4) of shock absorber (5).







Height of bumper (in front area) is now adjusted by turning socket head cap screw (1) in shock absorber (2).

NOTE: Adjustment only possible when bumper is fitted using special tool 51 1 130.
