SUBJECT
Transmission Oil Drain/Fill Plug

MODEL
All with S5D 250G (5 speed) and S6S 420G (6 speed) Getrag manual transmissions

SITUATION
Analysis has shown that an oil filler plug manufactured by ZF, BMW part number 27 11 1 226 798, may not fulfill its sealing function on Getrag transmissions.

Consequently, use of this plug (P/N 27 11 1 226 798) is no longer permitted for manual transmissions manufactured by Getrag.

CORRECTION

A new transmission oil drain and fill plug part number P/N 23 11 7 510 100 must be used whenever a plug replacement becomes necessary on all Getrag manual transmissions.

On a customer complaint basis, replace the oil filler drain plug if there is a leak from the plug using the new style plug , P/N 23 11 7 510 100.

Use this labor operation number when other repairs or services are performed along with the listed warranty repair.

Under no circumstances should both labor operation numbers be claimed. Attempts to claim both times will result in an unnecessary delay in claim processing and payment.
