Draining and Adding Coolant



Warning: Danger of scalding! Only perform this work after engine has cooled down.

Recycling
Catch and dispose of drained coolant. Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations.

Note: Follow instructions for working on cooling system.





Draining Coolant:
Open cap (1) on expansion tank.





Remove underbody protection at front and rear.

Note: Remove heat shield to improve accessibility to drain plug on left side of engine block.

Unfasten screws.
Remove heat shield (1).





Open drain plug (1) on radiator at bottom.

Installation:
Replace seal.
Drain, catch and dispose of coolant.





Release drain plug (1) on engine block on left and right.

Installation:
Replace seal.
Tightening Torque, refer to Cooling System Specifications.
Drain, catch and dispose of coolant.





Adding Coolant:

Note:
Slowly fill expansion tank with coolant.

Pour coolant into expansion tank approx. 5 mm above max. cold fill level.

Note: Tank mark indicates the fluid level at approx. 20°C.

Use only recommended coolant.

Vent cooling system and check for leaks.
