Engine Cooling
ENGINE COOLING
The coolant flow in the S62 engine is from the water pump into the block. From here it passes through the heat exchanger and cylinder heads. The coolant flow through the heads is cross flow from the exhaust to the intake side.
The coolant return is from the heat exchanger and two return pipes from the cylinder heads back into the thermostat housing.
Vehicle heating is also taken from the coolant return pipes in the "V" of the block and returns back into the water pump housing.
The S62 engine uses a conventional coolant only heated thermostat that opens at 79 degrees.
