Instructions On Adjustment Of Door Window (Coupe and Convertible)
The door and door window glass (1) of the coupe and convertible are identical.
In the case of the setting values, only the initial tension (D) is different.
Sealing of door
Requirements:
Door correctly fitted,
Seals in good condition and correctly fitted.
On convertible, side window adjusted,
Checking end stop:
Checking End Stop:
1. Close door windows
2. Open doors
3. Insert special tool 51 2 080 in lock striker (door contact switch); on older cars, close rotary striker lock by hand
4. Detach fuse for power window or disconnect plug for power window
5. Remove special tool 51 2 080 again from lock striker, door window glass must remain at top; on older cars, reopen rotary striker lock
6. Close doors carefully
When closing, door window in areas (C) and (B), convertible (C) only, must not jam against roof gutter (this would cause window to break).
Adjustment options without removing door trim panel:
1. Retraction depth (B)
2. Parallelism (tilting of door window glass)
3. Preload
At second adjustment bore behind the body molding:
1. Immersion depth (C)
Required tool:
The tool must be wrapped in adhesive tape (damage to paintwork):
1. 1/4" Torx ES socket wrench insert (small guide taper)
2. 1/4" joint
3. 1/4" extension
4. torque wrench
For vehicles entering production from 11/92 the following tool will also be required:
1. 1/4" socket wrench insert for cap screws 4 mm, 5 mm
2. 1/4" Torx E6 wrench insert (small guide taper) instead of ES
NOTE: The door window must be lowered and raised after each adjustment on the window mechanism (settling mechanism).
CAUTION!
Always make sure that, in the event of failure of the automatic lowering device, the door window glass does not stick to the water drain in the area (C) and (B), convertible (C) only; therefore check the end stop.
If necessary, adjust as otherwise the door window glass could break.
