54 10 004 Adjusting Glass Tilt Roof Cover (Z3 Coupe, M Coupe)

NOTE: The adjustment is checked when the glass tilt roof cover is completely closed (zero position).







Ideal adjustment:
Distance (A) of glass roof cover to roof at front and rear must be the same. Insert credit or identity card between seal and glass roof cover.
The card must encounter the same resistance.
Height:
Front - flush to 1 mm deeper
Rear - flush to 1 mm higher







Installation:
Height of cover (1) to roof (2) is measured with special tool 00 9 315 (gap measuring wedge).

Measure and note down front/rear, left/right deviation.

NOTE: Upward adjustment of glass roof cover is possible at any time, downward adjustment might be critical (adhesive).

Remove glass tilt roof cover.







Adjustment, rear:
Press roof liner down a little and slacken screws (1) (do not release).
Balancing vertical deviation upwards:
Insert washer (available in 1 mm thickness, U-shape) between glass roof frame and cover kinematics.

Installation:
2AZ Lid kinematics on glass tilt sunroof frame 3.5 ± 0.5 Nm






Adjustment, front:
Slacken screws (1) (do not release).
Balance vertical deviation at cover mount (2).

NOTE:
- If the cover cannot be adjusted further downwards:
- Release screws (1) and remove shoehorn hinge (2).

Installation:
3AZ Shoehorn hinge on glass tilt sunroof lid 4 ± 0.5 Nm

Grind off cover mount (1) at contact surface (2).

NOTE: Boss (3) must not be ground.







Installation:
Protect ground surface (2) against rust (priming).
Before installing glass roof cover:
Coat contact surface (4) with door brake lubricating grease "Renax GL2".

CAUTION:
- Check that glass roof cover is securely seated.
- Press glass roof cover at front/rear, left/right with palms of hands from bottom upwards.
- Glass roof cover must not be able to be raised upwards.
