Charging Battery
Charging Battery
NOTE:
Only chargers with the following properties are suitable for charging a battery in vehicle with connected electrical system:
1. Current limit for seriously discharged batteries (regeneration of slightly predamaged batteries).
2. Switchover or switch off after reaching 14.4 V gassing voltage.
3. Direct current voltage with harmonic wave less than 1 V.
Devices, e.g.:
1. Siemens/Gossen VB 801
2. Gossen CG 32, refer to U/I charge curve.
U/I charge curve shows:
1. Charging with maximum current up to gassing limit voltage of 14.2 V, whereby charging in range of approx. 13.2 to 14.2 V could require a relatively long time as charging is with very low current in this limit range.
2. Charging seriously discharged batteries with an initial current of approx. 2 A up to terminal voltage of approx. 7 V, at which maximum charging current cuts in.
Battery chargers without these properties can lead to vehicle damage.
Before disconnecting the battery, refer to General Data. General Information on Car Battery
Disconnect battery from vehicle electrical system when using any other chargers.
Remove battery from vehicle when using unregulated chargers (refer to Operating Instructions).
