Rear Muffler Tail Pipe Change - Replacement Parts

MODEL
E36 - M roadster and M coupe with S52 engine

SITUATION

New rear mufflers (left and right side) were phased into production on M roadster and M coupe models on 1/31/2001.

The new rear mufflers incorporate tail pipes that are approximately 20 mm (3/4 inch) shorter than the early style mufflers.

Rear mufflers (early style) with the 20 mm longer tail pipes are no longer available as a replacement part.

PROCEDURE

If one early style rear muffler is replaced under warranty then, on a customer complaint basis only, the second rear muffler may also be replaced and reimbursed under warranty.

Only rear muffler versions with the 20 mm shorter tail pipes are available as replacement parts.

The part numbers remain the same as listed above.
