41 62 005 Removing And Installing Rear Lid Upper Section

Remove trims on rear lid upper section. Disconnect electric plug connections and pull wiring harness out of rear lid.
If the rear window is not removed, the protective cap must be removed from the socket housing of the rear window wiper motor.







Secure rear lid upper section against dropping closed.
Unhook gas strut (1).
Release screws (2).
Remove rear lid upper section.

Installation:
Install rear lid upper section at screw locations to hinge. This dispenses with the need for adjustment after installation.
If necessary, fit rear lid upper section.







Installation:
Raise rubber seal (1) in left and right corners of rear lid upper section.
Tape off hole underneath with clear adhesive tape (2) (sourcing reference: BMW Parts Service).
