Removing And Installing Fuel Tank (Z3)


CAUTION!
After the installation of the fuel tank / Prior to the first engine start-up:
Check electrical resistance between bayonet head (tank filler pipe) and body.
Measured value: approx. 0.6 Ohms
Fill fuel tank with at least 5 liters of fuel.


Draw off fuel from fuel tank.
Remove complete rear axle.
On M Roadster, remove carbon canister.







Unfasten ground strap.







Unlock and remove connecting nipple from tank ventilation line (1) with special tool 16 1 040.
Inlet line (2)
Return line (3)







Disconnect fuel hose with special tool 13 3 010 and remove supply line (5).

Installation:
Replace hose clip.







Disconnect fuel hose with special tool 13 3 010 and remove return line (6).

Installation:
Replace hose clip.







Unfasten screws (1) on clamping tapes.







Support fuel tank with special tool 00 2 020.







Unscrew screw.
Lower fuel tank approx. 5 - 10 cm.







Unfasten plug connection.
Pull fuel tank down to remove.
