SUBJECT
False Alarm from Anti-Theft Alarm
MODEL
E46 (3 Series) with DWA anti-theft alarm system (option 302)
SITUATION
The customer complains of false alarms from the anti-theft alarm system (DWA)
CAUSE
Software errors in General Module 5 (GM5), software versions 3.0 and 3.1
The following General Modules are affected:
61 35 6 923 959
61 35 6 932 369
61 35 6 923 960
61 35 6 932 370
61 35 6 924 250
61 35 6 932 371
61 35 6 932 368
61 35 6 932 384
PROCEDURE
In case of a customer complaint, perform diagnostics using DIS or GT1 and read the fault and alarm memories in the General Module.
If at least one of the following faults is stored in the fault memory in GM5, replace the GM5 with P/N 61 35 6 944 840 SW4.1 or later:
- 20h "Watchdog reset"
- 21h "ROM processor"
- 47h "Processor interrupted"
After installation, check that the alarm triggers correctly (Leave window down, then set the anti-theft alarm system using the remote control. Wait for at least 30 seconds and then open the door using the inside handle.)
Clear the fault/info memory in the GM5.
