Installing Replacement Transfer Case





Note on E53:
After completing work, check transmission fluid level and top up if necessary.
Filler plug (1):
Fluid level to lower edge of filler plug.
Fill quantity, refer to Specifications.





Note on E46:
After completing work, check transmission fluid level and top up if necessary.

Filler plug (1):
Fluid level to lower edge of filler plug.
Fill quantity, refer to Specifications.

Caution: Use only the approved gear oil in this transfer case. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the transfer case!

Remove transfer case. Drain transfer case oil.

Recycling:
Catch and dispose of escaping transfer case oil.
Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations.

Convert rubber mount of transmission mounting.

Convert drive shaft transportation lock.

Convert covers and protective caps.





E53:
Convert vibration damper (1).

Release screws.
