1200 Mile Service
All BMWs at one time required 1200 mile services as a running-in service for the engine and differential. Because of advances in synthetic oils and engine materials this service is now only necessary for the M3, M5 and Z8 Motorsport Vehicles. The 1200 mile service for these cars ensures maximum life and longevity of various components. The service consists of:

- Replacing the transmission fluid
- Replacing the differential oil
- Reading out the fault memory and rectify any faults (invoice separately)
- Checking all lights and warning indicators
- Road testing the vehicle

The engine oil does not need to be changed during this service.

Do not reset the Service Interval Indicator.

Every M3, M5 and Z8 has a "1200 mile Service Required" label on the center console. This label may be removed when the 1200 Mile Service has been performed.
