Replacing Front Axle Support (Basis)

Caution! After installation, align front axle, refer to Alignment. Alignment
Suspend engine in installation position with special tool, described in Removing oil sump.
Engine M57 Detach left and right engine mounting brackets from front axle support.
Unfasten stabilizer on front axle support.
Unfasten tension strut on front axle support.
Unfasten control arm on front axle support.
Remove heat shield and bracket for engine shielding.
Support spring strut shock absorber from outside.





Measure or mark up screw-in length (A) of both track rods, unfasten nut and disconnect track rods.

Installation:
Screw in track rods to appropriate screw-in length (A).
Release steering transmission from front-axle carrier.

Installation:





Replace self-locking nuts.
Tightening Torque, refer to Suspension Specifications.
Partially loosen trim beside rear screws.





Unscrew left and right bolts and remove front-axle carrier.

Installation:
Tightening Torque, refer to Suspension Specifications.
Damaged thread, refer to Notes at Service Precautions. Service Precautions
