Removing and Installing/Replacing Left A-Pillar Sensor

65 77 710 - Removing and installing (replacing) left A-pillar sensor

Incorrect handling can activate airbag and cause injury.





Note:
Follow instructions for handling optical fibers 61 00 ... Notes on Handling Optical Fibers.





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Disconnect battery negative lead Instructions for Disconnecting and Connecting Battery and cover.
- Remove footwell side trim panel on A-pillar.
- Place carpet slightly to one side.





Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.
Unscrew bolt (2).
Unscrew nuts (3).

Installation Note:
Tightening torque 65 77 4AZ Airbag Triggering Control.
Make sure sensor is mounted without play.

Remove A-pillar sensor (4).





Replacement:
Carry out coding/programming.
Observe following IDC specifications:
- Programming
- Coding
- Car & Key Memory
- CD "CIP"
