SUBJECT
Vehicle Exhibits an Acceleration Delay While Driving

MODEL
E66 (7 Series) with N73 engine. All vehicles produced from 9/2002 up to 3/2005.

E53 (X5) with N62 4.4i and 4.8i engines. All vehicles produced from 10/2003 up to 2/2005.

SITUATION

The customer complains that the engine intermittently does not accelerate, even though the accelerator pedal is firmly depressed.

CAUSE

DME calibrations causing a high sensitivity to accelerator and brake pedal dual application.

PROCEDURE

E66 (7 Series) equipped with N73 engine

On a customer complaint basis only, reprogram the vehicle using CIP 17.01 or higher.

E53 (X5), all vehicles equipped with N62 4.4i and 4.8i engines

Reprogram DME and GKE with P41.2 or higher.
