SUBJECT
Automatic Headlamps: Lights Do Not Switch Off

MODEL
E65, E66 (7 Series)
E60 (5 Series)
E63, E64 (6 Series)

SITUATION
When automatic headlamp mode is used, the lights switch on as the vehicle enters a tunnel but do not switch off after leaving the tunnel.

FC 9331 (Implausible RLS signal) is stored in the LM

CAUSE
Communication fault between the light module and rain/light sensor (RLS)

PROCEDURE
In case of a customer complaint, do not replace any parts.

Perform diagnostics with DIS or GT1. Work through the corresponding test module and then program and code the vehicle using CIP 16.0 for E65, CIP 16.1 for E60, E63, E64 or later version.
