Audio System - Radio Inoperative After a Hot Soak

SUBJECT
AVT (Antenna Tuner) Is Inoperative At High Ambient Temperatures

MODEL
B65, E66 (7 Series), vehicles from start of production up to 05/2003

SITUATION
After the vehicle has been parked outside for an extended time in the hot sun, the MOST-bus and audio in C][) mode is working, only the radio is inoperative. The radio operation is restored once the interior of the vehicle is cooled down.

No faults are stored in the fault memories of the Control Units.

CAUSE
Hardware problem in the AVT (antenna tuner).

CORRECTION
On a customer complaint basis only, replace the AVT (antenna tuner).

The new antenna tuner must have HW 4.6 or higher.

For repair instructions refer to RA 65 20 200, Removing and installing (replacing) antenna tuner.

Refer to SIB09 05 01 (Coding, Individualization and Programming) for any necessary coding and programming. Note that CIP Will automatically reprogram all programmable control units that do not have the latest software.

Attempts to claim both times will result in an unnecessary delay in claim processing and payment.
