Front Door: Adjustments

41 51 004 Adjusting Left Or Right Front Door To Fit

Note:
- Gap dimensions E52 serve as the basis for the fitting work.
- The screwed body parts are adjusted from the rear to the front.
- Moving the hinges later on makes unpainted surfaces visible. Touch these up in the appropriate color.
- The illustrations serve as a general guide and are to be applied to the relevant vehicle type.

Caution:
- Do not damage adjoining body parts.
- Minor corrections (realignment work) are permitted if the existing adjustment options are not sufficient.
- More extensive straightening work may result in damage to the door outer surface or cause wind noises.

Loosen retaining elements at door hinges to be adjusted (1) and (2) at top and bottom in each case.
Adjust door according to specified gap dimension.

Check that adjoining body parts are flush in terms of height and correct if necessary.
After adjustment, tighten retaining elements at door hinges (1) and (2).

Note: If necessary, adjust lock striker.

Detach cover (1) on door pillar.

Slacken screws (1) and (2), adjust lock striker and tighten screws.

Note:
- After slackening, lock striker should be positioned approx. 90° to door frame inner edge (3) and be movable.
- When the door is closed, the lock striker must not touch or scrape against the door lock. Look out for scratches.
