54 34 165 Removing And Installing/Replacing Both Convertible Top Compartment Locks
Remove trim on convertible top lock.
Caution:
- Convertible top frame is made of magnesium.
- Do not damage surface (e.g. scratches). Any damage will result in destruction of the convertible top frame.
- Touching up with matching paint is not possible. Oxidation of convertible top frame continues.
- A damaged convertible top frame must be replaced.
On left and right, undo bonding (1) on convertible top.
Lift convertible top cover over frame edge.
Installation:
Glue bonding surfaces together with Loctite 380.
Raise tightening strap (1) on left and right.
Remove foam part (2) at front.
Convertible top catch, left:
Release screws (1) and (2).
Remove catch on left and detach from drive shaft (3).
Convertible top catch, right:
Unfasten plug connection (1).
Release screws (2) and (3).
Detach drive shaft (4).
Remove convertible top catch.
Caution:
- Do not mix up left/right drive shafts.
- Left drive shaft - White sleeve
- Right drive shaft - Black sleeve
Replacement of sensors:
Release screw (1).
Disconnect plug connection (2) and remove sensor.
Installation:
Also detach shaft from right lock.
On both locks, turn spindle (1) until slide (2) contacts stop (3).
Install drive shafts.
Turn catch on left and right with crank to "open".
