54 21 000 Fitting Hard Top (With Settings At Fastening, B-pillar)

Note: Lateral adjustment of hard top must be carried out before it is fitted. Otherwise it might not be possible to fit the hard top on the car.

Adjust spacings (A) and (B) as follows:
A = 1265 mm (measured from pin middle to pin middle)
B = Center spacing to hard top edge

Lower door windows.
Stow convertible top in its compartment.
Fit hard top and secure at B-pillar and cowl panel with key provided.

Checking gap dimensions and position of hard top
- Gap dimensions (1) = 5 ± 1 mm (via vertical adjustment)
- If necessary center alignment (via lateral adjustment)
- Longitudinal alignment (via longitudinal adjustment)
- Door windows must make good contact with hard top seal (via longitudinal, lateral or vertical adjustment)

Note: Fitting and removing the hard top does not alter the setting.

Height adjustment:

Note: Vertical adjustment of hard top is not accessible when it is installed. The hard top must therefore be removed again prior to each vertical adjustment.

Remove hard top.
Release retaining nuts (B) and turn adjusting pins accordingly.

During vertical adjustment, make sure there is no gap between rubber seal (1) and rubber seal (2) (leaking).
In addition, rubber seal (1) must not rest too firmly against rubber seal (2) as this would cause rubber seal (1) to bend (leaking).
Fit hard top and check rear gap dimensions.
If rear gap dimensions are inside tolerance band, remove hard top and tighten down retaining nuts (B) (refer to previous steps).

Installation:
Check gap dimensions (1) = 5 ± 1 mm and position of hard top.

Remove panel for roof pillar at front left and right.

Carry out leakage test (spraying with water). If necessary, locate leak and seal off.
In event of leakage, do not carry out any adjustment of door windows - adjustments to be carried out on hard top only.
