Differential Carrier: Service and Repair

Removing and installing complete rear axle carrier
Remove wheels.

Remove propeller shaft.

Remove brake calipers on left and right and tie back to body.

Remove left/right ABS pulse generators.

Detach Handbrake cable from Handbrake lever.





Unfasten left and right shock absorbers from wheel carrier.

Installation:
Square head (1) on rubber mount points towards head of screw.

Tightening torque, refer to Specifications.





Support rear axle with special tools 00 2 030/040 and 33 4 220.





Unfasten left and right screws and lower rear axle.

Installation:
Threaded pins (1) on rear detent plate must be fitted along longitudinal axis of vehicle.

Tightening torque, refer to Specifications.
