Component Tests and General Diagnostics

Note: Wear inspection is no longer necessary on the following vehicles:
- E38 M62 from 9.96
- E39 M62

Remove clutch slave cylinder (pressure line remains connected)

Note: Relieve clutch slave cylinder slowly, as otherwise the clutch slave cylinder may suck in air via the sealing sleeve.





Apply special tool 21 2 080 so that scale assigned to the transmission type can be read from underneath.

Note: Determine transmission type.


Measuring scale B:
4 cylinders without ZMS (dual-mass flywheel)
Transmission S5D 200G
Measuring scale D+E:
Transmission SOS 420G
Transmission SOS 560G
Measuring scale B+C:
6 cylinders and all 4 cylinders with ZMS (dual-mass flywheel)
Transmission S5D 200G
Transmission S5D 250G
Transmission S5D 260Z
Transmission S5D 310Z
Transmission S5D 320Z





Push pressure pin against release lever and read off wear reading.





If red range (2) is visible, drive plate must be replaced.
