Head Airbag In Rear Compartment (Without Slide/Tilt Sunroof
Removing And Installing/Replacing Left Or Right Head Airbag In Rear Compartment (Version Without Slide/Tilt Sunroof)
WARNING:
Observe safety regulations for handling airbag modules and pyrotechnical seat belt tensioners.
Incorrect handling can activate airbag and cause injury.
Remove headliner.
Installation overview, head airbag in rear compartment
Disconnect plug connection for gas generator of head airbag in rear compartment.
Unlock plug connection refer to Unlocking/locking airbag plug connections.
Slacken screws on head airbag gas generator in rear compartment at roof cross-member.
Release screws in head airbag cassette in rear compartment.
Release screws on head airbag gas generator in rear compartment at roof cross-member.
Slide gas generator upwards and remove complete airbag module towards front.
Installing head airbag gas generator in rear compartment:
Lug (2) gas generator must enter opening in roof cross-member (1).
Secure gas generator with the two retaining screws only.
Secure head airbag casing in rear compartment with the two retaining screws only.
Lay retaining strap on anchor fitting of ITS head airbag (1) under retaining ribs (3) of head airbag casing in rear compartment (2).
Retaining strap on anchor fitting of ITS head airbag (1) is underneath retaining ribs (2) of head airbag casing.
Place retaining strap on anchor fitting of ITS head airbag (1) under fabric of head airbag in rear compartment (2).
Tighten down retaining screws of head airbag casing in rear compartment.
Tightening torque, Head airbag cassette in rear compartment to body 3 Nm.
View after screw connection of head airbag casing:
Retaining strap on anchor fitting of ITS head airbag (1) is underneath retaining ribs (2) of head airbag casing.
Tighten down screws on head airbag gas generator in rear compartment at roof cross-member.
Installation Note: Tightening torque, Gas generator, head airbag in rear compartment, to body 4 Nm.
Reconnect plug connection for head airbag gas generator in rear compartment.
Locking plug connection, refer to Unlocking/locking airbag plug connections.
