Electronic Brake Control Module: Service and Repair


Remove rear cover on wheel arch (left side).

Note:
Before removing ABS/ASC+T/DSC control unit, read out fault memory and if necessary print out trouble code.

Once control unit has been installed, new control units must be recoded. On cars with DSC, a steering angle sensor adjustment must also be carried out. This is performed with the Diagnosis and Information System (DIS) under the menu item Service functions.

Carry out end-of-belt test with DIS.





Unfasten plug connection lock (1) in direction (2). Detach plug connection (1) in direction (3) vertically towards top.

Installation: Position plug connection (1) vertically on control unit so as to avoid damaging pins.





Release screws (1) and detach control unit (2) from hydraulic unit.

Installation: Replace screws (1).





Check sealing surface (1) for damage (visual inspection).

Clean sealing surface (1); do not use any sharp-edged tools or aggressive cleaning agents for this purpose.

Check contact lugs (2) for corrosion or damage.

Installation: Replace hydraulic unit if damage to sealing surface (1) or contact lugs (2) is found.





Carefully push control unit (1) onto hydraulic unit (2). Make sure solenoid coils are not tilted.





Housing edge of control unit (1) must slide over extension on hydraulic unit (2).





Press control unit onto hydraulic unit and install screws (1) + (2 uniformly (do not tighten down) until control unit rests evenly on hydraulic unit.

Install screws (1) - (6), do not tighten down.

Tighten down screws (1) - (6) in specified sequence with a torque wrench.

Installation: Use new screws.

Tightening torque: 2.9 Nm
