SUBJECT
Red LED Continuously Illuminated on the BM or MID
MODEL
E46 (3 Series) from 9/03 to 2/06 production with Premium Package (ZPP) or BMW Assist (SA 639)
E53 (X5) from 10/03 to 2/06 production with Premium Package (ZPP) or BMW Assist (SA 639)
SITUATION
The red Light Emitting Diode (LED) on the Board Monitor (BM) or the Multi-Information Display (MID) is permanently illuminated when a handset (Bluetooth� or CPT9000) is NOT connected to the vehicle.
CAUSE
The Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) within the Network Access Device (NAD) may have been corrupted.
PROCEDURE:
1. Check the vehicle history report on DSCnet to see whether the vehicle is covered by Service Action # 00 84 31 01 00. If this Service Action has not been performed, it should be performed to resolve the customer's concern.
2. [NEW] With the release of ISTA/P, the procedure previously outlined in this Service Information is no longer valid. If the NAD is faulty, the TCU must be replaced
