SUBJECT:
DSC/DXC Warning Lamp, Fault Code 5EBA

MODEL:
E60, E61 (5 Series)
E63, E64 (6 Series) vehicles produced from May 31, 2007 to June 25, 2007

SITUATION

The DSC/DXC (Dynamic Stability Control) warning is illuminated in the Instrument Cluster, and fault code 5EBA (Steering angle sensor) is stored in the DSC/DXC control module.

The warning lamp goes out after a valid steering angle has been detected.

CAUSE

Incorrect coding data in the KGM (Body gateway module). This causes a premature terminal 30g_f shutdown after 8 minutes, which causes the SZL (steering column switch cluster) to lose the steering angle.

[NEW] CORRECTION

This problem has been integrated into the BMW diagnosis system. Follow diagnostics and the relevant test plan(s), using the latest diagnosis version.
