SUBJECT
CCC Navigation Is Inoperative at Low Ambient Temperatures
MODEL
E60 (5 Series) with SA 609 (CCC Navigation)
E63, E64 (6 Series)
Vehicles produced from June 1, 2004 up to November 30, 2004
SITUATION
The customer states that "Please wait..." appears in the navigation screen, and the navigation system is inoperative at ambient temperatures below 37°F.
All other menus (Communication, Entertainment, etc) can be operated using the controller without any problem.
After the electronics unit has warmed up, the navigation system starts working.
CAUSE
DVD drive failure at low ambient temperatures
[NEW] PROCEDURE
This problem has been integrated into ISTA diagnostics. Follow diagnostics and the relevant test plan using the latest ISTA version. The test plan can be accessed as follows:
1. Perform vehicle test.
2. Select the "Fault pattern" tab when the fault memory is displayed.
3. Select "System oriented".
4. Select "6500 Audio, video and navigation.
5. Select "CCC: malfunction" and "Accept fault pattern".
6. Select "Calculate test plan".
7. Select "ABL W6590_WAS2-CCC:Malfunction".
8. Select the applicable fault pattern and finish the test plan based on the test plan recommendations.
