SUBJECT
Unexpected Lane Departure Warning

MODEL
E60, E61 (5 Series)

E63, E64 (6 Series) vehicles with option 5AD (Lane departure warning)

Vehicles produced up to March 2008

SITUATION
At highway exits, even though the vehicle is not leaving the highway at
that point, an unexpected lane departure warning may occur.
The situation occurs, for example, if travel is in the right-hand lane.

CAUSE
[NEW] Software error; the lane departure camera follows the white lane markings. If the right-side lane marking follows the exit ramp (with no straight ahead road marking), a lane departure warning may sound.

CORRECTION
[NEW] In the case of a customer complaint, this problem has been integrated into DIS diagnostics. Follow symptom diagnosis (6200 Displays and Information Systems / 620026 Implausible Lane Departure Warning), using the latest DIS version.
